Quote for the day:
"Love is never satisfied with doing or giving anything but the best."
Rev. J.M. Gibbon
There's something about being loved, wanted and needed that makes me feel better than anything else in this world. My nephew, Gavin, called me on Monday night. (well - my dad called for him and put him on the phone since G is only 2) I answer the phone, "hello?"
"lilla!" G screams. (this is what G calls me)
"Hi Gavin!"
"Li-i-i-lla" (G whiiines my name)
"What's wrong, Gavin?"
About then I hear my dad in the background, "Gavin, say hi to Aunt Lyssa, tell her you love her"
"love you Lilla, Hi baby!"
G loves to say "hi baby" he learned to say it from looking at his picture. My mom would tell him to say hi to the baby and it stuck. My poor mother has been mortified several times when he has confronted waitresses with "hi baby" in restaurants. G also knows that I love to hear him say "hi baby." Something about it. I just love to hear it. It makes me laugh. So after he said "love you" he had to proceed quickly to "hi baby" so his aunt Lilla would know that he truly did love her.
My dad picked up the phone then. "Gavin has been down here in the basement calling for you all night."
That's it. That's all I needed for my night to be successful. Amazing how a two year old can make your day just by loving you.
"Gavin, I love you and I'll talk to you later, ok?"
"K. Love you. Bah!"
(Bah is bye with southern accent. Yes, he lives in Pittsburgh - but he has learned to talk with a mighty good southern accent compliments of my mom.)
