5 years and counting. Today marks 5 years of married life. 5 years ago today, John and I were married. I'm sure there are other ways I can say this, but I'll stop now.
When we first got married I would ask when we were going to have kids. (I don't think this is unusual for a young woman fresh out of college and newly married) John always said, "let's wait at least 3 years, maybe even 5." And I'd say - "5! No way, that's too far away." Well, today 5 years doesn't seem like it was that far away after all. And in reality 5 years is not that long of a time. But I'm proud of us. Admittedly, our first year was rough. Not much we talk about to others -but it was a big adjustment period. Neither of us had lived out on our own really and we were not only learning how to do that, but we were also learning a lot about compromise and putting each other first. Like I said, it was a big adjustment period. Today I can honestly say that I am married to my best friend in the world. I know that sounds incredibly cheesy, but it's true. Whenever I have spare time I want to spend it with him. Whenever I have a really bad day I want to be with him and tell him about it. When I have a really good day I want to be with him and tell him about it. I really don't think there is anyone in this world that knows me better than John.
I can't wait to see what's in store for us as we begin this journey of parenthood together. I love you, John!

Happy Anniversary, guys!
Thanks Lyssa, I love you!
Sweetheart,
As your Dad. I loved reading what you wrote today! I am the only other man in the world that can call you "sweetheart" and get away with it! I've been doing it for over 26 years!
I love you!
Dad
